The Bible Lands Museum

The bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem is a unique museum that focuses on the Ancient Near East and displays the most impressive selection of ancient artifacts dating from the dawn of civilization

The Bible Lands Museums started off as a dream envisioned by one Dr Ellie Borowski and his wife Batya. The couple hoped to open a museum that would help people understand the biblical era and the history of this part of the world. Their dream was fulfilled via this museum, which exhibit the impressive collection of Ancient Near East Art slowly assembled along the years by Dr Borowski.

The museum’s permanent exhibition takes visitors through the history of the Near East via a selection of sculptures, jewelry, mosaics and other artifacts. It moves from the start of civilization, with a focus on the inception of civilization and moves through the major historical events of the time, showcasing the items related to each place and era (the pre-patriarchal world, the old kingdom of Egypt, Genesis, Rome, Greece, Persia and much more). The display is bright and informative and set within beautifully designed galleries. Besides the extensive permanent exhibition, the museum also holds special exhibitions focusing on various topics: Jewish Magic through the Ages, Treasures of Ancient Glass and more.

The museum is a real time wrapping experience and a wonderful place to spend a few hours. There are family activities available during the holidays and the summer vacation.
